Fake 8Gb Usb Pendrives on Ebay

This is a followup post to a previous post on which I have explained that I bought 2 usb pendrives of 8gb each from ebay which simply didn’t work. I have now discovered that these products were scam. The pendrives were actually 2Gb in size and were manipulated by software to make them look as if they were 8Gb. This explains why files were copied fast after the 2Gb memory was full. Do not ever buy stuff off ebay from Far East sellers cos  most of them are fraudulent sellers. The following image shows how windows sees the pendrive as 8gb.  After formatting the pendrive using Iformat, the size drops down to 2Gb.

This is the reply I got from the seller. It is funny - The seller is claiming that unconfirmed files (whatever they are) have attacked the device (possibly by aliens)! WOW.. that’s trustworthy!

Dear Sir/Madam,

Sorry to hear that. Please try to make sure that the files format is formal.

Note: sometimes some unconfirmed files will attack the device,
it may even the the memo corrupted. so please be care of this problem.

Regards,
Digittrend.

I purchased one of these pieces of krap from a power seller with 3843 number. Seller took four weeks to send locally to me. I kept writing ebay and they stood behind the seller. Then found my neighbor happened to buy same thing. Ebay also stood behind their power seller. Emails to the seller directly are now bouncing. I have never been burned and have purchased hundreds of items off ebay always from power sellers. Got scorched good this time.

I contacted four other people/companies selling exact same item on ebay and all wrote back in traditional Chinese, which altavista butchers when you try to translate. All four people stopped writing and pulled their ads, once I wrote with details about the drive I had……all I asked is how to contact the co. who makes them.

*sigh*

PS it copies over, you can verify the files are indeed there, and as soon as you safely remove hardware or eject, files are GONE. not even on the drive. You can move files with it, and mine will keep all 8gig of files MOVED to it, but every time I transfer FROM the usb drive to another machine, I have to format 5 times in a row, for the next time, otherwise it is totally unresponsive.

What a piece of krap.
